OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—FEBRUARY 16, 2011—Two-year-olds took center stage in Oklahoma City Wednesday as the first of three days of schooling races got underway at Remington Park.
Day one saw 89 two-year-old American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses go the post in 12 training races.
Coming away with the top time was Elbert Brown of Seminole, Oklahoma's Spit Curl Duchess who completed the 250 yard test in :13.64 seconds. Rodney Reed saddled the daughter of champion sire Spit Curl Jess.
The second and third fastest clocking's of :13.73 and .74 came from the final race (12) with 1/100th of a second separating Fdd Discovery andTsunami 09.
Bred in Florida by Flying Fisch Farm, Inc., Tsunami 09 was a $10,000 Heritage Place yearling. The gray filly, from the second crop of world champion Wave Carver, was purchased by Sandra Laszlo of Uxbridge, Ontario. Out of the Apollo-TB mare Easy Launch, Tsunami 09 was saddled by Clint Crawford and ridden by T. Bennett.
